BARBAROSSA -- Melchior "Omar" Barbarossa, 68, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully Sunday, September 16, 2007 of a long illness. Mr. Barbarossa was preceded in death by his wife who died nineteen years ago. He is survived by one son, Omar Edwards of Glasgow, KY and one daughter. Mr. Barbarossa was best known in New Mexico and nationally for his expertise in organizing and managing major political campaigns. He was well educated and highly ambitious throughout his career. Mr. Barbarossa's keen sense of propriety directed all aspects of his professional and personal life. He loved golfing, traveling, and fully engaging himself in new projects with enthusiasm. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial's Rose Garden, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
