TEDESCO -- Margaret Platt Tedesco passed away August 13, 2007 at the age of 94.5. She was born January 14, 1913 in Westminster, CO and grew up in the San Luis Valley, one of eight children of Harvey and Lurah Mathias. A graduate of Adams State College, she taught school, worked for AAA, managed a motel, and retired in 1973 after 18 years at Sandia National Labs where she helped develop the benefits program. For 17 years, she was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society's Reach to Recovery Program and successfully lobbied the State Legislature on behalf of breast cancer patients. She is survived by her husband and soulmate, S. J. Ted Tedesco; daughters, Jan Blackman and husband, Jac, Charlene Baker and husband, Bob, and Sherri Williams and husband, Bill; and step-daughter, Chris Horner and husband, Terry, 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Dorotha Leck and husband, Bill; and brother-in-law, John S. Bateman. Special thanks to her dear hospice caregiver Katie Stevenson. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 17, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Montebello Retirement Community, 10500 Academy, NE. Her preferred charity is NM Boys and Girls Ranches, PO Box 9, Belen, NM 87002.
