GILBERT -- Mary Ann Gilbert, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2007, after being diagnosed with leukemia in June 2007. Ann was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Myndert and Marjorie Gilbert. Ann was a loving care giver to both her parents. She is survived by her brother, Van H. Gilbert and his family, wife, Sandra, sons, Eric and Kurt, Kurt's wife, Elicia Montoya, and children, Teo and Sienna. Ann leaves behind many close friends to whom she was devoted, including, Bo Caudill, Mike Meddaugh, Karen Brooks, Jim Brooks, Danny Padilla, Mary and Phil LaGerca, Beth Love, Marie Myers, and cousin, Cissy Henry Bartlett and husband, Graham Bartlett. Anne cherished all of these and many other family and friends with whom she shared her life. Ann was born in Albuquerque on March 5, 1945, and graduated from Valley High School. She was gifted with an excellent voice and trained with many noted teachers in the Albuquerque area. Ann sang with the choir at St. Michael's and All Angels and St. Mark's for many years, performed with Opera Southwest, and in other local venues. Ann, Bo Caudill, and John Schweitz, co-owned and operated, Mommy Dearest, in Old Town from 1982-93. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 3:00 p.m., at St Michael and All Angels Church, 601 Montano Road NW. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's and All Angels Church or to the Animal Humane Society.
