QUINONES -- Maria Luisa (Licha) Quinones of Bayard, NM, died May 15, 2007, in Las Cruces. She was born in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua on August 25, 1928 to Apolonio Moreno and Dolores de las Casas. She started singing in the church choir since the age of six. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang in numerous community and church events with her son, Nacho. She co-produced "Canciones Para Ninos" - a musical tape and book of children's songs in Spanish. She also sang in the Smithsonian Institute corrido exhibit in Silver City and Bayard and the Lensic Theater in Santa Fe. She was a woman of deep faith and love. Two of her favorite sayings were, "Dios adelante y yo tras de El" and "Si Dios es servido." She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Jesus Quinones; and grandson, Ronald Lozano. She is survived by two daughters - Maria Elena Ortiz and husband, Tony, of Las Cruces, and Maria Bertha Silva and husband, Jeremiah, of York Valley, Arizona; four sons - Jesus Quinones, Jr., of Albuquerque; Dr. Luis Ignacio (Nacho) Quinones and wife, Isabel, of Las Cruces; Carlos Quinones and wife, Cheria, of Santa Fe; and David Quinones of New York City; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2007 in Baca's Funeral Chapels in Silver City with the Rosary scheduled for 6 p.m.; Visitation in Baca's Chapel of Prayer in Las Cruces will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 with the Rosary at 7 p.m.; the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Masonic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E.
