WALSTON -- Esther Fay Walston passed away unexpectedly on May 6, 2007, in Albuquerque, NM. Prior to moving to Albuquerque two years ago, she had been a long-time resident of Farmers Branch, TX. There she was an active member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, and subsequently transferred to St. Johns United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Born in Beaumont, TX, in 1921, she graduated from Lamar Tech, studying voice. She married Thomas E. Walston, Jr. in 1941, and raised a family of three children. She continued her education with a BA from Tulane University in New Orleans and a Master of Library Science from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX in 1971. She worked in education for many years and always participated in or directed church choirs or music programs. A vibrant, joyous Christian, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels for over 30 years and took Spanish classes so she could better serve as a volunteer at Metrocrest Family Health Clinic in Carrollton, TX. Her husband, Thomas E. Walston, Jr., and her son, Thomas E. Walston, III, predeceased Mrs. Walston. Her daughter, Jacqueline Fay Walston of Sanger, TX, and son, Roy and wife, Yvonne Walston, of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Abigail Walston Wright of Canyon, TX and Kirk A. Walston of Forgon, OK; and three great-grandchildren, survive her. A Celebration Memorial will be held at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE, on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 6 p.m. She was laid to rest on May 18, 2007 at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
