STEVENS -- Mary Susan Stevens, Beloved Mother, Mentor, Grandmother, Auntie, Teacher, Friend, and Wise Woman, departed this world for her circle of light and love with her creator on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in Albuquerque. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Col. (Ret) Douglas Stevens and Evelyn Kolstad Stevens; and her sister, Lynn. Susie was born October 7, 1939, in Gilroy, CA. Being a child of a military family, Susie was raised and lived all over the world. She graduated from Burgess High School in El Paso, TX, studied at the Universities of Hawaii, California at Los Angeles, and Texas, and earned her degree in business at the University of Texas at Austin. After extensive travels and an overseas teaching position, she met and married Jimmy Don Wiseman, with whom she had two children, Evelyn Casey Wiseman and Justin Douglas Wiseman, and with whom she shared two step-children, Julie Wiseman and Christopher Wade Wiseman. Susie's careers spanned many arenas, but primarily she was a creative and innovative educator, which culminated into a successful career as a regional director with Job Corps. As a gifted artist, Susie finally discovered her real passion in sculpting and over the past several years honed that skill. Her delicate sculptures delighted and brought joy to all who saw them. Susie was looking forward to having two of her sculptures on exhibit at the New Mexico Sculptors Guild Show at the Sculpture Ranch in Santa Fe this coming June. Susie leaves her daughter, Casey, husband, Nick Williams, their children, Ethan, Grace, and Luke of Greenville, SC; son, Justin Wiseman, his wife, Jeanette Merriam Wiseman, their two daughters, Ellery and Evelyn of Albuquerque; stepdaughter, Julie Wiseman Lucero of Las Cruces; stepson, Christopher Wade Wiseman of Yuma, AZ; many cousins, nieces, and nephews in the Wiseman, Rische, Stevens, and Kolstad families, together with countless friends scattered throughout the world. Memorial Services will be held Monday, May 7, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at the Los Poblanos Cultural Center, 4803 Rio Grande Blvd. NW, Albuquerque, NM.
