NOBLE -- Nell Noble, a former Springer resident for 47 years, died at Everett, WA April 20, 2007 at the age of 105. Mrs. Noble, as she was known to legions of customers and friends in Springer and Northeastern New Mexico, will be remembered as the proprietor of Noble's Department and Variety Store, which was a fixture in Springer for more than three decades. "The store," was her proudest accomplishment, next to rearing three daughters. Starting with a small stock in a rented building, Mrs. Noble, with the help of her husband, William F. Noble, built the business into a store that carried everything from ready-to-wear to sewing notions. Her business philosophy was simple: Try to have everything your customers ask for and treat everyone fairly and cordially. Mrs. Noble left Springer in 1985 to live near her daughter, Elaine, in Washington State. She lived independently in her own home until 2000, then moved into an assisted living residence where she celebrated her 105th birthday on November 25, 2006. A fall and a broken hip a few days later led to complications and eventually her demise. Mrs. Noble was preceded in death by her husband in 1979. She is survived by daughters, Raynelle Parks of Tucson, Elaine Reas and husband, Jack, Mill Creek, WA, Sue Pafford and husband, Glen, Waxahachie, TX; grandchildren, Steve Parks, Knoxville, TN; Janet Findley and Anne Dutton, Tucson; Rae Ellen Reas, Everett, WA and Sara Rawls, Poulsbo, WA; Chris Cooper, Fresno, CA, Cappi Davis, Amarillo, Craig Cooper, Gruver, TX and their spouses. There are 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who will mourn her passing.
