GROTHE -- Ruth W Grothe, 93, passed into the arms of her Savior Saturday, April 14, 2007 after a long illness. She is survived by her children, Mark and wife, Colleen, Marie, Robert, and Richard; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dorothy. Mrs. Grothe was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Martin. She had a long and very full life. Her greatest joy was her family. Mrs. Grothe was also very proud of her years of service to her country serving as a U.S. Army Nurse during WWII in Australia, the Philippines and New Guinea where she was awarded a Meritorious Unit award and two Bronze Stars. Later Ruth worked as a Nurse in Hospitals and Doctors offices in Albuquerque. She was involved in music her entire life as a church pianist and organist as well as playing bass with the Albuquerque Symphony for 30 years. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2007, 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Wednesday, April 18, 2007, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of your choice.
