PATTON -- George H. Patton, PhD, 63, a resident of New Mexico since 1978, died unexpectedly on Friday April 6, 2007. He is survived by his wife Wynn of Tijeras; sister Marlene Winegardner of Maryland; sister Janet Carr of West Virginia; step sons, John Harlan and wife Julie, Joel Harlan and wife Tresa, Frank Harlan and wife Karen; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Glenn. He received his Master's degree in engineering from West Virginia Tech and Doctorate degree in engineering from West Virginia University. He retired from Sandia National Labs in 1998 and ITT Technical Institute as Dean of Education in 2005. George was currently employed by New Mexico Tech as senior engineer, field operations, Earth Scope Project. Over the years, George received many awards, but one of his most cherished was that he was recently enshrined in his high school basketball hall of fame. George was devoted to his two dogs, Blue and Mickey. He was also very loved by many friends. He was always willing to help friends with any project and he could fix or build almost anything. George will be greatly missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Human Society. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at French Mortuary - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE.
