CAMPBELL -- Jack McNiel Campbell died peacefully February 14, 2007. He was born October 17, 1916 in Ignacio, CO. The only child of Douglas H. and Verna McNiel Campbell, he moved to Albuquerque in 1924. He is a 1934 graduate of Albuquerque High. He attended the University of New Mexico and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, and a graduate of LaSalle Business College. He married Alta Hunter of Mulberry, AR in 1941. Jack served his country as a decorated glider pilot in Europe during World War II. Before and after the war he worked for Standard Oil as a district manager out of Carlsbad, NM. In 1955 he returned to Albuquerque and began his +45-year career as a financial advisor / regional manager. Always the optimist and hard worker, his motto was "You were put on this Earth to work," which he did until age 82. Jack was a longtime Rotarian, Jester, Shriner, and Lobo Club member. Jack enjoyed fishing, reading, cheering for the Lobos, and morning walks through the Victory Hills and Ridgecrest neighborhoods. He was "Albuquerque's oldest paper-boy," tossing the delivered newspapers onto porches as he passed by. He is survived by his son, Richard Campbell and wife, Lorri; daughter, Debra Luther and husband, Dennis; daughter, Elizabeth Campbell; and grandchildren, Ryan and Mariaya Campbell, Mariaya Crawford, and Cody Luther. Jack's wife, Alta, preceded him in death in 1990. Services will be held Thursday, February 22, 2007, 3:00 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust St. NE, reception immediately following. A private military honors ceremony will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
