MONTOYA -- John Louis Montoya, age 62, passed away in Albuquerque on Tuesday, February 7, 2007. He was born October 9, 1944, the son of Maximilliano and Gloria Gallegos in Big Spring, TX. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia; his three children, Annamarie, Cecilia, and John; his three grandchildren, Megan, Jacob, and Gabriel; and his mother Gloria. John was also a caring and devoted son, son-in-law, and friend who never hesitated to lend his help and support to everyone in his life no matter the circumstances. John served proudly in the U.S. Army, 1962-1966, where he earned the rank of sergeant. In 1966, John and Patricia married and began a new life in Los Angeles where he held successful positions in management at the Los Angeles Airport and, later, Grantham Industries. In 1974, John, Patricia, and their two young daughters moved to Albuquerque, where their son was born. At the age of 26, John suffered renal failure and would battle this illness for the rest of his life. Through it all, he continued to provide for his family and persevered with an unfailing spirit and a warm sense of humor. John was known to family and friends as a person who seemed to know how to fix anything, who was trusted for his everyday wisdom, and could always make people laugh. His courage, generosity, and humor touched everyone he knew. Funeral Services will be on Monday, February 12, 2007 at French Mortuary-Wyoming Blvd. Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Lem Boyles officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
