MARTINEZ -- Esther V. Johnson Martinez, our beloved sister, mother, aunt, and friend passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2006. She was born on July 4, 1921 to Samuel and Carlota Valencia in El Rancho, NM. Esther was a long time resident of El Rancho. She met and married Dr. E.E. Johnson and they lived in La Mesita, NM until his death. Esther then married Ruben Martinez, who also preceded her in death. She lived in Albuquerque at her death in the Elite Senior Care, where she was being cared for by her niece, Marti Kessler, in the capacity of guardian and conservator. Esther is survived by her adopted daughter, Mary Johnson; sisters, Mary Roybal and Teresa Quintana; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 4, 2007, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 5, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE, with Monsignor Leo Lucero, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 417 Rodeo Rd., Santa Fe, NM.
