Valentin was born and raised in Corrales, NM, where he raised his family, and later moved to Algodones, NM, where he remained for the rest of his life. He was a self-made man who, after completing only 6 years of formal schooling, started and owned many businesses. Valentin was also a World War II Veteran stationed most of the time in Germany. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household name that it always was. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well." Goodbye my Love, my Father, my Grandfather. You were generous, stubborn and flawed. Mostly you are loved. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 4th Street and Alameda NW, on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Burial will then take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m., with U.S. Army Honors. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Vista Care Hospice at Lovelace Downtown for their care and concern for Valentin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Vista Care Hospice, 5639 Jefferson NE. ABQ., NM. 87109. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW. ABQ. 505-343-8008.
