BINFORD -- John Curtis Binford of Waynesville, NC, died on December 12, 2006 at age 70. He was born on August 2, 1936 in Dallas, TX to Joe Bailey Binford and Nell (Roberts) Binford. John and his first wife, Julie Jean Gamble, have two children, Anne and John Jr. John married Carol Feichter of Waynesville, NC in October of 1999. Carol has two children, Elizabeth and Mark, with her husband, Mark Feichter who is deceased. John lived much of his life (1965 through 1997) in Albuquerque, NM where he worked as a commercial real estate developer and stockbroker. John has written short stories and poetry for many years and has published work through the New Mexico Poetry Society. He loved outdoor recreation and all mountains- from the red peaks of New Mexico to the green Appalachian ranges of North Carolina. John was an involved and caring member of any community where he made his home and was a member of the Waynesville Historic Preservation Commission and an active participant in a weekly bible study group. John is survived, missed, and much loved by his wife, Carol Feichter and her children, Elizabeth and Mark Feichter; his brother, Joe "Jody" Binford; his daughter, Anne Streater and son-in-law, Sam Streater; his son, John Binford, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Pilar Flores; and his three grandchildren, Sarah, Paul, and Stephen.
