TAYLOR -- Norma Jeanne Dunning Taylor, 74, passed away at Presbyterian Hospital on Saturday, November 25, 2006, after a very long battle with cancer. Her doctors and their colleagues had long told her that her indomitable spirit and courage and the love of her family had carried her through the many surgeries, procedures and treatments these past 33 years. She simply refused to give in to it, and lived an active and productive life. In fact, just moments before she passed away she and her family were happily discussing her anticipated return home from the hospital. Norma was born in Cortez, CO on March 12, 1932 and had lived in Albuquerque for the past 55 years. She retired from the Sandia Corporation in 1984 and thoroughly enjoyed her retirement. For many years she was on the staff of the Sandia Lab News where she wrote many articles about interesting places, people and happenings in New Mexico. She was particularly interested in the Indian Pueblos of New Mexico and had made many lasting friendships with members of the Sandia Pueblo, especially her dear friend, Abbie Gutierrez. She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Effie Snyder Dunning. Norma adored her family. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Russell; her daughter, Sandy Miller and husband, Gary of Dallas; her son, John Taylor and wife, Paula of Albuquerque; grandson, David Kuck and wife, Sheryl of Oceanside, CA; her granddaughter, Bri Taylor of Albuquerque; great-grandson, Justin Kuck of CA; sister, Maxine Melbourne and her husband, Ralph; niece, Nancy Archuleta and family; and nephew, Ralph P. Melbourne and family; and many dear cousins. Norma has been cremated and will be laid to rest next to her father and mother at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen, NM. Graveside Services will be held there at 2:00 p.m. on Friday December 1, 2006, with the Reverend Edmund P. Ross officiating. Russ and/or Sandy or John had been constantly at Norma's side-loving her and caring for her throughout this last ordeal. They wish to thank the entire staff on the 5th floor of Presbyterian Hospital, the Dr.'s and technicians at the New Mexico Cancer Center, and Dr. Donald Kettwich for all their care and kindness. Arrangements by RIVERSIDE FUNERAL HOME OF ALBUQUERQUE, 225 San Mateo NE, Albuquerque, (505)764-9663.
