ROMERO -- Clara G. Romero, age 75, beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, arrived in heaven on Saturday, November 4, 2006. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Seth; grandchildren, Jacinta and Andrea, great-granddaughter, Kaylyn; and sister, Carmen Flores. Mrs. Romero leaves behind her adoring family: Deborah Romero and husband, Robert Borrego, Cynthia Romero and husband, Geno Fulgenzi, Michelle and Richard Galaz; and son, Robert Paul and wife, Lucretia Romero; granddaughter-in-law, Heather; sisters, Jesusita Maes, Rose McTeigue, Rosalea Warken, and Maria Maes. Clara was widowed in 1967, from Robert Seth Romero, State Police Investigator, who was killed in the line of duty. As a single mother, Clara was a noted public servant, where she administered several agencies, including the Motor Transportation Department, the Santa Fe County Indigent Fund and the State Corporation Commission. She was also a local political icon, where she helped elect many, including United States Senator Jeff Bingaman, Congressman and now Governor Bill Richardson, and State Representative Luciano "Lucky" Varela. Clara was a Democrat of the first order. After retiring from public service, Clara loved caring for her grandchildren, Miquella, Mariah, Danny, Bobby, Shania, Rog, Derek, Al, Lucia, Leandra, Linnea, and great-grandchildren, Lisa Marie and Lexus. A woman of great faith, Clara prayed the Rosary every morning and was a parishioner of San Isidro Parish. She inspired her family to be compassionate and giving to all. Clara took great satisfaction from watching her son and grandchildren play sports. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to Laughlin, NV or a local casino. Serving as Pallbearers are Robert (Rog) Romero, Derek Romero, Danny Borrego, Bobby Borrego, Adrian Maes, and George Gomez. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer is Richard S. Galaz. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., both at San Isidro Catholic Church in Santa Fe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., at San Isidro Catholic Church.
