MONTANO -- Aroma Simonita Valdez Montano was born to Francisco and Carmelita Marquez Valdez on March 11, 1928 in Corrumpa, NM. Our "Romie" died at the age of 78, at home in Algodones amongst the family she loved on September 23, 2006. She graduated from high school in Greenville, NM, moving from there to Santa Fe until her marriage to Vincent Fred Montano in Bernalillo on January 19, 1951. Her husband of 56 years survives her as do their three children, Fred Michael of Albuquerque, John Vincent of Algodones, and Bernadette Sanchez and husband, Bill; their three children, Sherry, Bill Patrick, and Roberto; and her great-grandchildren, Anthony Brooks-Sanchez and Simonita Grenko-Sanchez, also of Algodones. Of her 13 siblings she is also survived by four sisters, Gavina Valdez, Josie Arrellano, Elizabeth Bowles, Donna Valencia; and one brother, Frank Valdez, all of Santa Fe; in addition to numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family. Aroma dedicated her life and love to her family as is attested to by the successes in their lives. A public viewing will take place on Thursday, September 28, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW, followed by the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Sorrows Church, 301 N. Camino del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2006. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque
