DAVIS -- William (Bill) Quenton Davis, 75, born September 29, 1930, in Orlando, FL, passed away September 15, 2006 after a sudden massive heart attack. He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 51 years, Barbara Colleen Davis; mother, Ruby Mae Bethea; his father, Robert Nicholas Davis; brothers, Carson Napolian Davis, Philp Nick Davis, and Alton Eugene Davis. He is survived by his brother, Vernon Bethea Davis; sisters, Jo Ann Starling and Martha Jo Simkins; son, Wayne Quenton Davis and wife, Kathy of Salt Lake City, UT; son, Craig Allen Davis and wife, Becky of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Cameron Wayne Davis of Memphis, TN; Donica Mae Long of Coldwater, MS; Sean Michael Davis and Tyler Allen Davis of Albuquerque; four great-grandchildren, Elise Nicole Davis, Logan Anthony Davis, Michael Hunter Long, and Samantha Michelle Long; many nieces and nephews. Bill grew up in Orlando, FL and graduated from Orlando High School where he played many sports and began his lifelong love of football. He moved to Las Vegas, NM and attended Highlands University where he also played football. He was married to Colleen June 10, 1951 and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1958. He was a member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He served for many years on the board of the Albuquerque West Side Neighborhood Association. His career in life insurance spanned more than 40 years. His career in Life Insurance began with John Hancock in Albuquerque in 1958 and in 1964 moved to their headquarters in Boston, MA. After leaving Boston his career continued to progress with several different insurance companies as a General Agent managing offices in Dallas, TX, Houston, TX. Oklahoma City, OK, and returned to Albuquerque in 1970 where he worked in life insurance till his retirement. Bill's life long love of sports included living long enough to see his beloved Florida Gators gain national prominence in football and win a NCAA Basketball Championship. But his greatest pride was his grandchildren. After returning to Albuquerque Bill and his beloved wife Colleen (Ponca) loved supporting their grandchildren in their endeavors in Southern California and Tennessee. After Colleen's passing in 2003 Bill continued to live in Albuquerque until his death. We want to thank Dr. Shatoff and the staff of Presbyterian Hospital who worked so valiantly to save Bill's life after his sudden heart attack.
