HERNANDEZ -- Clara Viola Hernandez was born July 3, 1930. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, she passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006 after a lengthy illness. Viola graduated from Albuquerque High School on 1948. She became a homemaker and served as State President of the PTA for two years. She then became part owner and operator of the American Bar in Gallup, NM for five years and moved to Los Lunas, NM where she became President of the Neighborhood Watch Association of Los Lunas. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Joaquin Hernandez; brothers, Tomas Martinez, Salomon Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Santiago Martinez, Silas Martinez, Oracio Sanchez, and Enrique Martinez; sisters, Modesta Montano, Rachel Martinez, Esther Martinez, Romona Martinez; and great-grandson, Paul Gregory Harper. She is survived by her son, Thomas W. Martinez and wife, Barbara of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Sandra Overmeyer and husband Don of Albuquerque, Elizabeth Casaus of Albuquerque, Alexandra Casaus of Atlanta, GA, Roberta Krieger of Los Lunas, NM and Tracy Jaquias of San Jose, CA; sister, Eliza Carabajal of Albuquerque; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special niece, Lena Marqus; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. A Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW, on Thursday, September 14, 2006 from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW, 4th and Montano NW, on Friday, September 15, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
