NEOFOTISTOS -- GEORGE The Reverend Dr. George Neofotistos, age 78, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on July 22, 1928 in Lowell, MA to Peter and Elaine Neofotistos. Father George obtained his B.A. in Theology at Holy Cross Seminary in Brookline, MA in 1951. In 1965 he obtained his Masters in Education at North Eastern University in Boston. He received his Ph.D. at Denver University, Iliff School of Theology. On September 9, 1951 he married Veatriky Moungelis in Manchester, NH. He was a parish priest for the following communities; Annunciation in Pensacola, FL, St. George in Springfield, MA; Annunciation in Mobile, AL; St. John in Boston, MA; Assumption Cathedral in Denver, CO; St. Sophia Cathedral in Miami, FL. Father George was the inspiration behind the building of three churches; Pensacola, FL; Mobile, AL and Denver, CO. He was also the Director of St. Basil's Academy in Garrison, NY. Father George is survived by his loving wife, Veatriky for 55 years of marriage; Elaine and David Sinton; Mary and Tom Allen; Peter Neofotistos; Justin Neofotistos; and three grandchildren.; Nathan Sinton, Rachael and Alexander Allen. A Trisagion Service will be held on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High St. SE, Albuquerque, NM. A Divine Liturgy and Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High St. SE, Albuquerque, NM with His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver officiating. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. George Greek Orthodox New Building Fund.
