ELLISON -- Don Lewis Ellison, 40, died Saturday, August 12, 2006 at his home. Don was born May 25, 1966 in Albuquerque to Roy and Lena (Smith) Ellison Jr. He attended Eldorado High School and TVI where he met his wife Jennifer. With their dog Lucy, Jennifer and Don made their home and they had many wonderful years together. Don traveled from coast to coast and made every road trip an adventure in fun. He loved to play and recently Don and Jennifer celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary and his 40th birthday, with a trip to California that included Disneyland and Medieval Times where Don was knighted and became "Sir Don". His passions were many and included a love of motorcycles. He rebuilt and custom painted a '78 Harley Sportster then took it to the Laughlin Bike Run. His only tattoo, (you guessed it) a Harley Chopper. He always enjoyed a good movie and a great book and was excited to discuss either with anyone. After a full career in automotive parts store management, Don jumped at an opening to drive buses for the City of Albuquerque Transit Department. He loved the view from his "office window" and his contagious smile could be spotted as he navigated traffic around Albuquerque. Likable and approachable he quickly developed friendships with many of his regular passengers. Quick to laugh, Don had a way with enthusiastic story telling, that left everyone within earshot rolling on the floor hysterically. Willing to help anyone at anytime, Don assisted his father with many garden projects, including lawn mowing and tree trimming. He dug many deep holes to bury yard clippings; some so deep he couldn't climb out of them without a ladder. Don was a die-hard Steelers fan and enjoyed watching them win a Super Bowl last year for the first time in a long time. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Greene-Ellison; father, Roy F. Ellison, Jr.; sister, Julie Wylie and husband, Wayne, sister, Cindy Franks and husband, John; twin brother, Tony Ellison and girlfriend, Freda; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Effie (Smith) Ellison. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE on Friday, August 18, 2006 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at French Mortuary - Lomas Chapel with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
