HANNA -- Sidney M. Hanna Jr., CMS-USAF, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2006. He was born in Greenville, TX on December 12, 1923. Sidney was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and he served in the South West Pacific, Korea, and during the Vietnam conflict. He retired from the USAF in 1978. Sidney was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge medals. He is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Mardell B. Hanna; one son, Sidney M. Hanna III; daughter-in-law, BiVi L. Hanna; three grandchildren, Angela C. Hanna-Rose and husband, Mark, Sidney M. Hanna IV, and Christina E. Echols and husband, Leo; and eight great-grandchildren, Amantha Rose, Ethan Rose, Jonathon Hanna, Donavon Hanna, Jacob Hanna, Jade Hanna, Chance Echols, and Leo Echols. Sidney was an adventurous, family loving man that enjoyed the outdoors and traveling and was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He was a member of the Santa Fe Scottish Rite, always doing the 20th degree. Sidney was also a member of the Sandoval Lodge #76, Past Master of lodge 643 in Aviano, Italy. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2006, 2:30 p.m., at the Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, 1801 Montano Rd. NW. A private family interment will take place at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
