MILLER -- Wayne E. Miller, 84, of Las Cruces passed away at his home on May 26. He will be remembered for his quiet gentle ways, dry sense of humor, integrity, and strong Christian faith. While in the Army Air Corp during WWII, Wayne was a B-24 flight engineer with the 801st/492nd Bombardment Group/Special Operations known as "Carpetbaggers." Wayne and Jean farmed in Illinois unitl 1950 when they moved to Albuquerque where he accepted a position with Sandia National Laboratories. He contributed to the operations there for over 33 years, retiring in 1984. The Millers have called Las Cruces their home sinces 1990. He is survived by Jean, his wife of 61 years; brother, Darrell Miller; daughter, Kathleen Little; son, Lee Miller, four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. The family held a farewell service in the Santa Barbara Canyon where he loved to camp and fish. His wife scattered his ashes in a favorite mountain meadow. He will be missed.
