HARBIN -- Charles C. Harbin MD, 90, long-time Albuquerque physician, passed away in Denver, CO on April 29, 2006. Dr. Harbin served in WWII as a navigator for the U.S.A.F. stationed in England. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for leading his crew to safety in Sweden after his plane was hit over Berlin. Dr. Harbin received his medical degree from the University of Louisville in 1949. He was Flight Surgeon of Kirkland Air Force Base from 1950-1952. He was the first physician to open a private practice in the Northeast heights. After thirteen years of general practice he fulfilled his lifelong dream of completing a residency in Psychiatry. He then practiced Psychiatry until his retirement in 1990. Dr. Harbin was an avid gardener, rosarian, wine connoisseur, voracious reader, and accomplished writer. He was reknown for his famous and savorful spaghetti sauce. He is survived by his former wife, Patricia; seven children, Diana and Frank Campisi, David and Bonnie Harbin, Steve and Angie Harbin, Marilyn and Frank Adragna, Kathleen Harbin, Lisa Harbin, Richard Harbin; and grandchildren, Rachel, Scott, and Impala Walker, Heather and Keith Terry, Shannon and Ryan Adragna, Teal, Sienna, and Jadyn Harbin.
