COLEMAN -- BURRELL (BUD) Bud passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on April 10, 1937, and was raised on the Mesita Ranch south of Santa Fe, to Harvey G. and Juanita Beatrice (Osborn) Coleman. His father was the ranch foreman of the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM. Bud is survived by his sons, Mike H. Coleman, a diesel mechanic; Army Sgt. First Class Matthew H. and wife, Kay Coleman; and Marc H. Coleman, a journeyman iron worker, all of Albuquerque, NM. Other relatives are his aunt, Beth (Coleman) Kinsell of Albuquerque; two sisters, Barbara Liguori of Yukon, OK and Beth Vance of San Angelo, TX; and brother, Jim and wife, Janet Coleman of Datil, NM. As a child, Bud was a bull rider in the Cerrillos Rodeo circuit. He entered the Navy in 1954 and was honorably discharged on October 7, 1962 as an Aviation Boatswain Mate ABH3 from the 8th Naval District. He then entered into the trucking industry driving a truck for Arrow Freightways, Roadrunner, William Thomas, and AJO Heavy Haul Trucking. He retired from Albuquerque Underground Inc. in Albuquerque in 2002. Bud also owned his own fleet of trucks in the 1960s. He received many certificates and awards in the trucking and heavy equipment field. He married Margaret Holtz of Gettysburg, PA in June 1961 in El Paso, TX. Shortly after, they moved to Gettysburg, PA. There he built a house on 10 acres of land on the Civil War Battlefield. While in Gettysburg he worked for McDermitt Construction Co., building the Washington DC subway system, and later owned his own welding truck. He was a very generous and kind-hearted man, helping the local farmers keep their tractors in good working order. He would fix mailboxes that the snow plows would knock over in the winter. After Margaret passed away in April 1976 Bud moved back to Albuquerque, NM. Later he married Nancy B. (Ladd) Coleman who preceded him in death in March 2001. He is also survived by his two step-daughters, Terry Ladd and Darla and husband, Clint A Davidson. He enjoyed being a jokester with his grandkids, Amanda, Andrew, and Ashley Coleman; and step-grandkids, John, Mary, and Jennifer Davidson, Stephan Ladd, Dana Potts, Erica Garcia, and Gabe and Maeve Montoya. Bud opened his heart and his home to people who had no money and nowhere to live on many occasions. He was incredibly generous and very much missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bud has been cremated and his Memorial Service will be held Saturday at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution NE, (Moon and Constitution) Albuquerque, NM. Following the Service all are invited to join the family in celebrating Bud's life at Matt and Kay Coleman's, 10533 Aspen NE, Albuquerque, NM (505) 296-4180. He will be buried with military honors. The family will take his ashes to the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Burrell (Bud) Coleman's name to Albuquerque Rescue Mission, 525 2nd St. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. (505) 346-4673.
