RITCHIE -- Dean W. Ritchie, 81, born in Des Moines, IA on August 18, 1924, died May 6, 2006 at the New Mexico VA Health Center. A Purple Heart recipient, he served in Europe from 1944 until wounded in April 1945. He and his longtime companion, Virginia Ball, renovated property in New Mexico over 16 years and before that in Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, and Washington. His humor, great storytelling and generosity are missed by his friends and his stepchildren, Martha Anderson and Vic Ball. Remembrances to the DAV (www.dav.org).
