CARNOHAN -- Bertha May Carnohan, 88, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, May 18, 2006. She is survived by her son, Michael Allen Carohan; two sisters, Lois Wymogene Bredon of Fairborn, OH and Mary Josephine Hazlett of Nashville, TN; two brothers, Roy Edsel Hazelett of Franklin, OH and John Allen Hazlett, Jr. of Nashville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bertha was born in Rush, Boyd County, KY on November 19, 1917. She was the daughter of John Allen Hazlett and Eula Dee Bolt Hazelett. Bertha was married to Jack Carnohan of Logan, WV on December 22, 1940. She graduated from the General Hospital Training School of Nursing in Logan, WV as a Registered Nurse in 1941 and continued in nursing until retiring from Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM in 1974. Bertha and her husband came to New Mexico in 1952, living in the Albuquerque area most of that time. She was a member of Sandia Baptist Church. Bertha enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and ceramics, many of which won top prizes in county fairs. Horseback riding, square dancing, playing Uno and Canasta were also regular activities. Bertha was always loving toward her husband, son, family and others, willing to go the extra mile to help anyone. She had made the most important decision a person could ever make in their life, which is to believe in the Lord, Jesus Christ. Therefore, she is now at home with the Lord in a place of no more death, no more sorrow, no more tears, no more pain; the old things have passed away.
