GUNN -- Mary Lou Gunn, beloved wife, sister, mother and friend, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2006, after a short illness following surgical complications. Mary Lou was a gregarious and friendly person who has now joined her husband, Edsel, in eternal life. Mary Lou was born on August 12, 1918, in Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter of Joseph J. and Violet Roesch. Mary Lou grew up in Indiana with her father and stepmother, Esther, but later became a member of a dance troupe that traveled the West. She fell in love with and settled in Albuquerque in the early 1950's. She married the love of her life, Edsel Gunn, on April 14, 1961, and they remained blissfully married until Edsel's death on October 23, 2001. Mary Lou and her stepmother Esther remained the closest of friends, family and neighbors all of their lives. Mary Lou worked for many mortgage companies and builders in the 1950's, but joined the workforce of Mortgage Investment Co. where she eventually became the chief loan officer and eventually retired from MICO in 1984. Mary Lou and her husband Edsel enjoyed traveling, country and western dancing and the company of their friends and families. Mary Lou was an avid collector of clowns, and in later years after the passing of her husband, enjoyed the frequent company of her stepmother, until Esther's death last year. She is survived by her beloved adopted daughter, Tina West, who was her near-constant companion and cared for her every need; brother Ronald Roesch and wife Martha of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother David and wife Suzanne; sister Maureen Baca and husband Stephen, brother Joseph Jr. and wife Barbara, all of Albuquerque, and Grandson Josh Havill of Tennessee who is stationed presently in Iraq. Services for her and a celebration of her life will be held at French Mortuary on Lomas Blvd. on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date where her remains will be interred with her husband's at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
