GODLEY -- Lawrence Ely "Pete" Godley, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 8, 2006. He is survived by his daughters, Susan G. Sprague and husband, Jack of Hickory Creek, TX and Deborah G. Bodenchuk and husband, Mike of Grantsville, UT; grandson, Hunter A. Bodenchuk; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Bodenchuk, both of Grantsville, UT; sister-in-law, Carrie Lois Godley Nordsven and husband, Alvin of T or C, NM; brother-in-law, Stuart H. Lassetter and wife, Martha of Angel Fire, NM; and sister-in-law, Jan Lassetter of San Angelo, TX. Pete was a 1937 graduate of Alamogordo High School and received his BS in Botany from New Mexico State in 1942. He married Jean Lassetter on August 15, 1942 in San Antonio, TX and she preceded him in death on July 4, 1997. Pete flew B-17s with the 8th Army Air Corps during WWII and was a founder of the missiles wing of SAC in the newly formed Air Force in which he retired from as a Lt. Colonel in 1964. After his service to our country, Pete graduated Phi Delta Kappa from the University of Denver in 1965 with a BS in Education and taught chemistry at Albuquerque High School from 1965 until 1980.
