BARRERAS -- Meliton Barreras, age 94, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006. He was born March 9, 1912, in San Juan, NM, a few months before New Mexico became a state. Meliton was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa, and he is survived by his daughters, Cecilia Kirk and husband, David, and Flora Lobley; grandchildren, Beverly Soto and husband, Angelo, Roseanna Garcia, Gladys Vigil and husband, Victor, Micha Kirk, Jessica Peet and husband, Dillon, Ernest Kirk, Michael Lobley and wife, Dawn, and Timothy Lobley; great-grandchildren, Virginia, Curtis, Brandy, Andrew, Andrea, Yvonne, Joshua, Nicholas, David, Alex, Aliyah, Michael, Mark, Norman, Joseph, Leticia, Mike, and Savannah; great-great-grandchildren, Ariel and Rosa; brother, Timoteo Barreras of Oakland, CA; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. A Rosary will be recited in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW, on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE (Lomas and Morningside), on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Curtis, Angelo, Andrew, Joshua, Michael, Victor, Josh, and Dillon. The family wishes to thank the staff of Laurel Heights Nursing Center, especially Anna, for their wonderful care and special concern for Meliton.
