TRUJILLO -- Gilbert Trujillo, born and raised in Llano De San Juan, Taos County, NM a resident of Albuquerque since 1993, and a former resident of Santa Fe, died peacefully at home May 4, 2006 at the age of 81. Gilbert, an avid Lady Lobos basketball fan, and World War II Veteran, graduated from the St. Michael's College in 1951 and retired from the NM State Transportation Department in 1987. Prior to his career with State Government, Gilbert had a long time association with Credit Unions. He helped to establish Credit Unions in South America and low income areas in the United States for the Credit Union National Association, and later, was Manager of State Employees Credit Union. Gilbert, a life-long Catholic, was preceded in death by his mother and father, Virgilio and Maria A. (Tonita) Trujillo; brother, Clovis Trujillo; and sister, Eliza T. Garduno. Gilbert, a gentle, caring and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great grandfather, primo, and friend is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Estefanita "Fannie" Trujillo. His is also survived by his six children: son, Lawrence Trujillo and wife, Loretta of Albuquerque, daughter, Vera and husband, Danny Ortiz of Pojoaque; son, Charlie Trujillo and wife, Debbie of Santa Fe; son, Deacon Anthony Trujillo and wife, Mardell of Santa Fe, son, David Mario Trujillo of Santa Fe, and son, Gilbert Trujillo, Jr. and wife, Varii of Albuquerque. Gilbert is also survived by his younger brother, Arturo Trujillo and wife, Eleanor of Rio Rancho; baby sister, Mary and husband, Ambrose Mascarenas of Llano de San Juan; sister-in-law, Mabel Trujillo of Santa Fe; brother-in-law, Felipe Salazar and wife, Celina of Rio Rancho; sister-in-law, Kena Vigil of Las Vegas. His is also survived by 24 grandchildren: Joshua and Lina, Jake, Melissa, and Michael, Michelle, Gabe, and Missy, Andel, Nikka, and Mike, Amy and Chuck, Andrea and Nate, Corie, Jorge, Juliette, Charlene, and John, Bernadette and Bobby, Daniel, Miguel; and eight great-grandchildren; Isabella, Devyn, Aiden, Ravenna, Amber, Bobby Jr., Gabriela, and Ashley, He is also survived by many primos and primas, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. A Memorial Rosary Service will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 417 Agua Fria Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501 at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2006. Public visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. with Rosary Devotional Services following at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary on Monday, May 8, 2006. There will be another viewing held the following day before the Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m., with Services to be conducted at our Lady of Guadalupe on Tuesday May 9, 2006 at 11:30 a.m., with Father George Salazar and Father Tien-Tri as celebrants, and Deacon Anthony Trujillo. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with the following serving as pallbearers: Joshua Trujillo, Jake Trujillo, Gabe Trujillo, Corie Trujillo, Michael Baldwin, and Mike Bowen. A reception in remembrance of Gilbert will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall.
