THOMAS -- Daniel K. Thomas, 58, of Thoreau, NM, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 in rural in Smith Lake, NM. He was born April 16, 1948 in Barstow, CA. "DK" served in US Army Air Borne Division during the Vietnam Era. He then entered Navajo Law Enforcement and retired after 30 years of service as a Captain and received a Medal of Valor. He was currently employed as a Deputy with the McKinley County Sheriff's Office until his untimely passing. His hobbies included spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, being outdoors and most of all riding his Harley Davidson. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, May 7, 2006, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel and Monday, May 8, 2006 at Red Rock State Park from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Services will be held Monday, May 8, 2006, at 12:00 p.m. at Red Rock State Park. Milt Shirleson and Sister Terry Goodin will be officiating. Burial will be at Rehoboth Mission Cemetery on Monday, May 8. Survivors include, Linda Thomas of Gallup, NM, wife; Cornelius Thomas of Ramah, NM, son; Daniel Thomas Jr. of Gallup, NM, son; Gabriel Thomas of Thoreau, NM, son, Ina Thomas of Isleta, NM, daughter; Marie Charley of Mariano Lake, NM, sister; Effie Davis of Olympia, WA, sister; Shirley Gibson of Olympia, WA, sister; Helen Grumberg of Salem, OR, sister. Pallbearers will be, Merle Bates, Albert Benally, Matthew Hughbanks, Willis Martine, Anthony Sandoval, Christopher Tsosie. Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
