ERDAHL -- Ruthmary W. Former Albuquerque resident Ruthmary W. Erdahl, 84, passed away Friday, May 05, 2006 in Chandler, Arizona. A descendant of early Missouri pioneers, she was born in Lexington, MO July 13, 1921 to Karl and Estelle (Howe) Winkler. Ruthmary was Salutatorian of her Lexington High School class in 1938 and graduated from Christian College for Women, Columbia MO, where she was elected to Phi Theta Kappa National Jr. College Scholastic Fraternity in 1940. After her fathers death in 1943, she returned to Lexington and managed the family's furniture and funeral home business office until her marriage to W.W.ll Naval aviator Robert E. Erdahl in Lexington on Aug. 25,1946. They lived in Williston ND from 1948 until 1976 where Robert was a partner in the Sletten & Erdahl Funeral Home and a City Commissioner. They reared two children and were both dynamic members of the community. In Williston Ruthmary was very active in her church and many service groups including Beta Sigma Phi city council, the Rainbow Board, the Scouts/Bluebirds, and the County Historical Society for which she was a Director and Treasurer. She was a Regent and 50 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) and held all North Dakota state offices of the P. E. O. sisterhood, including President in 1971/72. Ruthmary was also a life-long genealogy enthusiast with some of her research printed in national publications. Following Roberts heart surgery they moved to Albuquerque in 1976 where Ruthmary continued her involvement in DAR, P.E.O. and genealogy while Robert was a funeral director and manager for French Mortuary. They moved to the Phoenix AZ area in 2002. Ruthmary was preceded in death by her husband in July 2004. She is survived by a son, Robert, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Linda; daughter Karla and her fiance Kent Erickson; one grandchild, Shantel Denny and husband, Ross; and one great grandchild, Blake Denny all of the Phoenix area. Arrangements by Walker Nadler Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington MO. Graveside services are on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lexington.
