ROBINSON -- Marlin J. Robinson Jr., 70, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, passed away peacefully April 30, 2006 at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Shirley; his mother, Neva Joe Robinson of Albuquerque; daughter, Kellie Ross, of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Robyn and husband, Brian Wilkins of Allen, TX; and four grandchildren, Aaron Taylor Ross, Lindsi Lee Ross, Chelsea Rene Wilkins, and John Cody Wilkins; brother-in-law, Deryl Parker and Gwen Peterson of OK; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Duane and Janice Smith of AZ; sister-in-law, Marilyn Sullivan of TX; sister-in-law, Dolphia Blocker of CA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wally and Elaine Wilhelm of TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Marlin J. (Slue) and son, Wayne. Marlin, known to his New Mexico friends as Robby, and to his Texas friends as Cowboy (because he was the first bat boy for the Alpine Cowboys professional baseball team). He was born in Oklahoma City, OK, January 12, 1936. He grew up in Alpine, TX. He loved the out-of-doors, and spent much of his youth hunting and fishing with his father. Marlin excelled in all sports, and attended the University of Texas on a football scholarship. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Parker, in 1957. They made their first home in Tucson, AZ, where their three children were born. Marlin coached an elementary school team, worked for a finance company, and continued his education at University of Arizona. In 1964 his work took them to New Mexico. The work he found most enjoyable was in RV sales. He retired from Meyer's RV in 1996. Marlin will be remembered as honest and kind. His friends were an important part of his life. He loved all sports, country music, and was an outstanding cook. One of his greatest pleasures was cooking for family and friends. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
