LONG -- Michael Long, 89, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on April 17, 2006 after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Long. Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Dee Dee Rich of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Cory Rich and his wife, Polly, Julia Padilla and her husband, Victor, of Albuquerque, and Lisa Smith and her husband, Doug, of Parker, CO; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley Rich, Enzo and Otto Padilla, and Taylor and Mason Smith. He served in the U.S. Navy and survived the bombing of Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Tennessee where he was Chief Gunners Mate. He later saw action in various battles in the South Pacific. After his military service he entered Civil Service and retired from Sandia Base. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, organizing and participating in estate sales, and collection antiques. Services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Mountain Valley Cemetery in Barton, New Mexico.
