WIMER -- BRUCE. Dr. Bruce Wimer passed away on April 1, 2006 following an extended illness. Born in 1922 in Tuckerton, NJ, Dr. Wimer lived in Plainfield, NJ before attending Franklin and Marshall University and Thomas Jefferson Medical College. He married Polly R. Wheaton of Kingston, PA in 1950. He served for 3 years as a Captain in the United States Army Medical Corps. Dr. Wimer was a specialist in internal medicine, hematology, and oncology. Dr. Wimer and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1961 where he was employed by the Lovelace Clinic and Foundation. In the 1980s, Dr. Wimer spent several years working as an associate professor at Texas Tech University Medical School in Lubbock. He was Fellow in the American College of Physicians, and a member of the AOA Honorary Medical Society. Dr. Wimer retired to New Mexico in 1991 where he enjoyed spending time in the mountains. He continued his passion for cancer research and published several manuscripts. Dr. Wimer is survived by his wife, Polly; three children: Susan Chapman, Bruce Wimer, and Kathy Tawney, and eight grandchildren. The family is saddened by Bruce's death and will greatly miss his love, support, and wise counsel. There will be a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2006 at St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church located at 431 Richmond Place.
