DAVALOS -- MANUELITA (MELITA). "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4, 6:7. Manuelita (Melita) Davalos, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died Sunday, January 29, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Vicente Davalos; sons, Mario Davalos, Ruben Davalos and wife, Marsha, Christopher Davalos, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Nicholas Davalos, James-Vincent Davalos, Marcus Davalos, and Michael Davalos, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Luis Martinez and wife, Louisa of Clovis, NM, Arthur Martinez and wife, Clara of San Luis, CO; sisters, Corrine Lopez of Brenham, TX, Isabel Baldo and husband, Tony of Albuquerque; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, J. P. and Adela Martinez; brothers, Juan Martinez and Jose (Sonny) Martinez; sister, Mary Ann Baca; grandson, Kevin Adam Davalos. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. She maintained a strong and diligent faith that never wavered. Melita was devoted to her family, first by helping raise her brothers and sisters and later a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love and devotion will be forever cherished by all whom she touched and helped; she will be greatly missed. After raising her children, Melita worked for 14 years for Landshire Food Services. She then continued her devotion to her family by helping raise her grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service and Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2006, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Deacon Jim Delgado, officiating. The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice, especially Cindy, Collette, Swanna and Patty for the loving care given to Melita. With very special thanks to Martie Lucero.
