GIRONDA -- Joe Gironda, 75, an Albuquerque resident since 1972, died Monday, December 26, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Gironda of Albuquerque; sons, Eric Gironda and wife, Elisa of Boise, ID, Paul Gironda and wife, Kellie of Mandeville, LA, Craig Gironda of Kenner, LA; daughters, Lise Stephenson of Metairie, LA, Leslie Petty and husband, Tom of Slidell, LA, Leona (Binkie) DeNardi and husband, Jeff of Mason, OH; step-sons, Michael Pittman and wife, Cari of Claremore, OK, John Pittman and wife, Lesley of Las Vegas, NV, David Pittman and wife, Wendy of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Debbie Butler of Albuquerque; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank Gironda of Sanders, CA, Lionel Gironda and wife, Joanie of Mesa, AZ, David Gironda and wife, Jan of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Mary McMahon of Marietta, GA, Frances Barbaro and husband, Mike of Albion, CA, Thelma Knebel and husband, Jim of Prescott, AZ and Laurie Comeau of Glendale, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vic Gironda and sister, Leona Miller. He was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Joe was a member of the NM Fleet Reserve and American Legion Post # 49. He was a member of the Shrine of St. Bernadette where he was active in the 10:45 a.m. choir. Joe loved to sing and participated in Karaoke and he actually recorded a CD of his favorite songs. Joe was an avid golfer and over the past several years he was a member of the Albuquerque Senior Golf Association and the NM Senior Golf Association. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2005 at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE with Father Norbert Chung, celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd NE, Suite 300, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
