LENTE -- Walter Franklin Lente went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2005. He was born on December 11, 1930 and raised in Gallup, NM. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He spent his remaining life in Albuquerque. Walter worked for the Anaconda Jackpile Mine for 26 years in Paquate, NM. He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved the Denver Broncos and Notre Dame. Over a span of 15 years, he coached with the YAFL, Little league baseball and was a sports official. He was a Boy Scout troop leader for many years. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping, also his Country music, and playing his guitar. During his latter years with his failing eyesight his constant companions were his labs: Meagan, Morgan, and Lexy. He was preceded in death by his father; Frank Lente and his grandson, Vernon Wallace III. He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte Lente, of 23 years; his mother, Mary Lente of Gallup, NM; his brothers: Arthur Lente and his wife, Erma, Donald Lente and his wife, Carla, and Edward Lente of Gallup; his children, Loretta and her husband, MSgt Dennis Curtis, Laverne Teupell, Ronald Lente, Kevin Lente and his wife, Judy, Brenda Lente and her fiance, Dr. Ron Ziemann, Chaplain Terry Lente and his wife, Marcia, David Lente, Yvonne and her husband, Roy Metzgar, Tom King and his wife, Sherri, Wendy and her husband, Scott Martinez, Cindy and her husband, Richard Estrada. He is survived by 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Walter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 21, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at First Family Church, 4701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Albuquerque. Internment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW Albuquerque. (505)343-8008
