BUNTEN -- William Robert Bunten, 84, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Presbyterian Manor. Bill was born April 18, 1921 in Topeka, the son of Arch and Grace E. Hutton Bunten. He grew up in Albuquerque, NM and graduated from Albuquerque High School. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1983. During his career with the railroad, they lived in Newton and Wellington, Kansas, Belen, Albuquerque and Clovis, New Mexico and Topeka. He married Ruby D. Rutz on September 9, 1940 in Bernalillo, New Mexico. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Bill Bunten and wife, Betty, Carlsbad, New Mexico, Bruce E. Bunten, Bridger, Montana, Byron L. Bunten and wife, Sarah, Gilroy, California; and daughter, Kay Bunten Busch, Richmond, Missouri; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, James A. Bunten and Daniel L. Bunten, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Donald J. Bunten, Rio Rancho, New Mexico. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at the Jellison chapel at Presbyterian Manor of Topeka.
