STARR -- Sandy Starr, a 20-year resident of the East Mountains and Albuquerque, died at home from liver cancer on September 12, 2005. She fought a brave battle with her sense of humor, dignity, and loved ones by her side. Sandy was born in Temple, TX in 1946, and traveled extensively with her Air Force family. In 1970 she married John B. Starr Jr., U.S. Army Officer, and with their children continued to travel the world. She is lovingly remembered by husband, John; mother, Millie Sinor; sister, Judy Sinor, brothers, Ben Sinor Jr. and Robert Sinor; three children, Kim Lyon, Robin Starr, and Nick Starr; and her four beautiful grand-girls. Among her many talents, Sandy was first and foremost a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and beloved friend. She loved words, flowers, animals, and especially her family and dear friends. Sandy was a self-taught writer, poet, and photographer. She served for many years as a staff writer and photographer for the East Mountain Telegraph, wrote for the New Mexico Business Journal, published articles in leading magazines, published books of poetry, won poetry contests, and wrote three manuscripts. Sandy also volunteered her time as a board member for the Via Santa Maria, volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce, and supported local writers, poet, and photographers.
