BRAWLEY -- Maria Brawley, born Maria Biszaha in Chalfant Borough in Pittsburgh, PA on September 12, 1908, died on July 27, 2005. Maria was a resident of Albuquerque since 1960. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970. She was the second child in a family of two sisters and five brothers born to John Biszaha and Maria Kondas-Biszaha. She married Joseph Leo Brawley, also of Pittsburgh, in 1936. She lived and traveled with her children and husband where his United States Air Force career took him, including Virginia, Illinois, Nebraska, Washington, Newfoundland (Canada), and Washington, D.C. Colonel Brawley retired to Albuquerque in 1960. Maria was an early member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church in Albuquerque where, until recent years, she participated regularly in numerous church activities. Maria is survived by her children, Johanna King and her husband, Michael King, Patricia Abeyta and her husband, Johnny Abeyta, and Joseph Brawley and his wife, Susan Brawley; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Abeyta, Tanya Nash and her husband, Carl Nash, Anya King and her husband, Alex Hill; great-grandchildren, Kira Nash and Cailan Hill. Maria was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Maria Abeyta in 1995. A Parastas Prayer Service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church 1837 Alvarado Dr. NE Albuquerque NM at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2005 and a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. A brief Graveside Ceremony will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
