CASTANIER -- Charles (Dick) Castanier, age 84, died at his home in Albuquerque on July 12, 2005. He and his wife, Ruth, lived in Bay City, MI until their move to Albuquerque in 1999. Dick was born on May 22, 1921 in Bay City to the late Arthur Castanier and Alma LaCombe. He served in the 84th Infantry in World War II from 1942-1946, and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his brother, Rev. Fr. Joseph A Castanier; and his sister, Clare Castanier. He is survived by four children, Susan Schroeder and husband, Ken, of Albuquerque, Sherri Ortiz of Seattle, WA, Rebecca Nohl and husband, Tim, of Seattle, WA, and Richard Castanier and wife, Angie, of Muskegon, MI; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Harvin and husband, Adair, of Baton Rouge, LA; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many friends and cousins in Michigan. Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, with interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
