CRUZ -- Paul J. Cruz, age 77, a resident of Los Lunas, and a former resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 8, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Hilda; two sons, Paul J. Cruz Jr. and wife, Veronica, Donald R. Cruz and wife, Lori; two daughters, Sabrina Kawcak and husband, Douglas and Merlinda Acevedo and husband, Arturo; sister, Ada Kozlowski; grandchildren, Dominic, Paul, Alix, Chris, Donald, and Taylor; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he devoted his life to. He was a Korean War Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Cruz was Secretary of the Department of Labor under the David Cargo Administration. He was also Director of Human Rights and Personnel Departments for the City of Albuquerque, as well as a private business owner. After retiring from the City, Paul was a consultant for Human Rights Issues. He was a true champion of Civil Rights, but enjoyed being with his family the most. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2005 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. inside Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, with a Prayer Service following at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m, with a procession leaving Strong-Thorne Mortuary at 8:30 a.m. Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE Albuquerque, NM 87106 (505) 842-8800
