CROWE -- Helen Blanche Moore Crowe passed away in Albuquerque on May 31, 2005 at the age of 95. She was born in Monegaw Springs, MO, June 23, 1909 and was the 11th of 13 children born to Robert Lee Moore and Minnie Amelia Puffenbarger Moore. They homesteaded in Haswell, CO in 1917. At age 17, she was employed at Ft. Lyon Veterans Hospital. She married Donald Alan Crowe in 1928 in Las Animas, CO. They moved to Lamar, CO in 1933 after Don graduated from Capital College of Pharmacy. They raised registered Herefords and owned and operated the Corner Pharmacy from 1944 until 1968 when Don passed away. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lamar for over 48 years. She was an active lifetime member of her beloved Presbyterian Church and continued her faithful service when she moved to Albuquerque in 1981 with Covenant Presbyterian Church. In addition, she worked tirelessly and served as an officer or on the boards of the following organizations; Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, Order of the Amaranth, Zonta International, Colorado Boys Ranch, Southeast Colorado Cowbelles, Lamar Women's Club, Colorado Women's Club, General Federation of Women's Club, Girl Scouts, Region 6 Comprehensive Medical Health Care Association, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, Salvation Army, Prowers County Historical Society, and most recently, the Lew Wallace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was very patriotic and loved her country. Helen was a true suffragette. She broke barriers throughout her life by repeatedly becoming the "first woman to. . ." in both her church and civic clubs. She touched countless lives and all who knew her were truly blessed. Her husband, Don, and her grandson, James Womack II, predeceased Helen. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Jeannie Crowe Womack, and son-in-law, James E. Womack of Albuquerque, NM; her three grandchildren, Julie and Lavell Brown , Jenifer and Mark Jannakos, and Jordan and Debbie Womack; eight great-great-grandchildren: Katie, Carolyn, Stephen, Michael, Matthew, Margaret, Stacey, and Trevor. Funeral Services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005 and the First Presbyterian Church in Las Animas, CO with burial in the Las Animas Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005 in Albuquerque at the Covenant Presbyterian Church.
