ANGLADA -- Jose Benjamin Roy Anglada, 68, a resident of Albuquerque, born and raised in Taos, NM, died Friday, May 6, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Ramona; son, Richard Clay and wife, Anna Marie; daughters, Casey DeRaad and husband, Billy, Carla Knudsen and husband, Arnie, and Melissa Anglada; grandchildren, William, Loren, Jordan, Jessica, Hannah and Dylan; dearest niece and nephew and friends, Fred and Elaine Herrera; brothers, Bonifacio Anglada and wife, Celina; and Adelmo Anglada; sisters-in-law, Cidelia Montoya; Mary Alice Winter and husband, Ed; many loyal nieces and nephews and his dearest friend among many, Dick Shepardson. He was a US Navy reservist for 30 years and retired at the rank of Captain. The Navy was his dream as a young boy so he joined the ROTC at UNM while he earned his Bachelor's degree. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy and served active duty before joining the Reserves. He retired from the Navy at age 55 and was loved and respected by both his peers and subordinates. During his 27 years of employment for the City of Albuquerque he earned his Masters in Public Administration and worked with the Dept. of Environmental Health, Housing, and was the Manager of the Convention Center. He was a devoted family man and the perfect example of integrity and character as seen by the way he cared for his wife, family, and friends. He was generous and kind to everyone and opened his home and life to all. His favorite things were fishing, skiing and traveling, but especially working outside on his yard. He spent hours on projects with his faithful companion dog, Cosmo. Roy loved to dance and was always eager to lead family wedding marches with his wife Ramona. He was an active member of his church and will truly be missed by all. Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Antonio Mondragon, Celebrant. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be William DeRaad, Jr. Anglada, Mark Winter, Toby Herrera, Randy Herrera, and Ted Montoya.
