BRYAN -- Jeanne Ellen Bryan passed away quietly on Tuesday, April 12, 2005. Jeanne was born in Cleveland, OH in 1921. She lived there until her family moved to Clayton, NM in the mid 1930s. Her dad, "Doc" Millhoff became the country doctor for much of North East New Mexico, South East Colorado, and the panhandle of Texas and Oklahoma. She served in the U.S. Navy as a WAVE during WWII. She met and married George R. Bryan, Jr. in 1944. Together Jeanne and George served their country over the next 30 years; George as a Naval Officer and Jeanne as a devoted Navy wife. From WWII to Korea to the Vietnam era, Jeanne and George traveled throughout the United States and around the world. Those who have experienced military life know the incredible sacrifices a military wife makes in support of her husband's career. She raised two fine sons, Pat and Bill, and a great daughter, Kathy, while her husband spent half a lifetime at sea. When it came time to settle down and to retire, Jeanne and George returned home to New Mexico, where they resided for more than 30 years. Life of the party, avid bridge player, fantastic cook, voracious reader, world traveler, Jeanne lived life to its fullest for 83 years, but it is now time for her to be reunited with her beloved husband and friend George, who passed away just 11 months earlier. Friends were invited to come visit Jeanne and say goodbye on Saturday, April 16, 2005 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Home, 3113 Carlisle NE. Please no flowers, but a donation to the Public Library in Jeanne's name would be appreciated. If there are enough donations, it may cover Jeanne's 30 years of late fees at the library.
