PADILLA -- Julian Padilla, sunrise Monday, January 25, 1926 with sunset and returning to our Merciful Lord on Friday, March 25, 2005 surrounded by his loving wife of 60 years, Rose, and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas Padilla and Rebecca Sandoval; brothers, Ernest Padilla and Arthur Bustos and daughter, Christina Padilla. Julian came to the end of his journey after battling lung and liver disease. He was born in Mosquero, NM and was the oldest of nine children. Julian and Rose were married on July 5, 1944 in Roy, NM. He was a WW II veteran and served his country in the European Theater for 17 months as a medical aidman attending to the sick, injured and dying. After his tour of duty, Julian attended business school and began his career with Blazer Finance. He retired from Blazer Finance in July, 1989 after 40 years of service where he served as a Supervisor of the New Mexico District. Upon retirement he entered the Deaconate Program for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. After completion of a four-year program which included theology, Cannon Law and Church Norms, he was ordained a permanent deacon on June, 1993. He served the parish of Queen of Heaven where he and his family were members for 35 years. His ministries included assisting at Holy Mass, proclaiming the Gospel, performing baptisms, presiding at wedding ceremonies, taking communion to nursing homes and the home bound, serving as a UNM Hospital Chaplain, leading a Charismatic Hispanic Prayer group, and serving on the Board of the Catholic Charismatic Center. Julian was loved and respected by all for his kind, and fun-loving nature. He will truly be missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rose Mary Padilla; son, Ernest Padilla; daughter, Yolanda Padilla-Vigil and her husband, David Vigil and their son, Carlos; daughter, Debbie Mascarenas and her husband, Joe; son, Anthony Padilla and wife, Nanette and their son, Anthony; son Ronald Padilla and his wife, Norma and their daughters, Julianna and Ronna of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Tamara Lynn Bourger and husband David; brothers, Rick Padilla of Grand Junction, CO, Edward Padilla of Lakeside, CA; sisters, Josephine Duran of Cimarron, NM, Shirley (Laura) VanCleave of Denver, CO, Charlene McCabe of Longview, TX and Rita Lucero of Denver, CO. Visitation will begin on Saturday, March 26, 2005, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. A prayer vigil and rosary will be held Sunday, March 27, 2005, 7:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont Ave. NE. Holy Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 28, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque.
