VALDEZ -- Florencio A. Sr. Mr. Florencio A. Valdez Sr.,75, a resident of Cuba, NM passed away on February 25, 2005. Mr. Valdez is the beloved husband to Mrs. Ersilla (Ercie) Valdez, married for 55 years. Mr. Valdez is also survived by his nine loving children, Floyd Valdez Jr. and wife, Maxine, Joe Valdez and wife, Kathy, Diane Chavez and husband, Clovis Jr., Virginia Ramirez, Joan Valdez and husband, Dick, Patrick Valdez and wife, Corrine, Shirley Whatley and husband, Lynn, Linda Valdez, and Janet Valdez; three sisters, Rose Montoya, Toni Montoya and husband, Paul, Louisa Barowski and husband, Ron; four brothers, Al Valdez and wife, Gloria, Tom Valdez and wife, Virginia, Nash Valdez and Cindy and Manuel Valdez; 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Valdez was preceded in death by his son, Michael; granddaughter, Christal; and a son in law, Bernie Ramirez. Mr. Valdez was a member of the Catholic Church. He was blessed with a large loving family and devoted family. He started his career in Raton, NM and moved to Alameda, NM in 1958 and lived there for 13 years. He was called by God to move to Cuba, NM and worked as a licensed plumber for 33 years. He made a crusillo and taught bible study for about 18 years. He was a Eucharistic Minister at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, he counciled adult and youth classes. He also worked many crusillos and searchs. Mr. Valdez donated much of his time and his services to the elderly. He will be missed by all that came to know him. A visitation for Mr. Valdez will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. A final visitation will be Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the Cuba Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Valdez, Adam Valdez, Greg Chavez, Daniel Valdez, Jonathan Valdez, and Michael Valdez Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Chavez and Timo Ramirez.
