MAHLMAN -- Sandra Kay Gorman Mahlman, 56, teacher, loving and devoted mother, died at Lovelace Medical Center in the early morning of Wednesday, February 23, 2005, following a long and courageous battle with polymyositis and its medical treatment. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, David and her two beautiful children, Niles and Ellen; her oldest brother, Thomas Gorman and his wife Gladys of Cincinnati, OH ; her oldest sister, Nancy Gorman of Taylor Mill, KY; her younger sister, Priscilla Oehlschlaeger and her husband, Robert of Cincinnati, OH; her younger brother, Joseph and his wife, Kathleen of Finneytown, OH; her youngest brother, Sam Gorman of Melbourne, FL; her youngest sister, Dixie Karas and her husband, Ted of Cincinnati, OH; her brother-in-law Andrew Mahlman and his wife, Janet of Lawrenceburg, IN; and many dear relatives and friends of all ages. She was born at home on February 18, 1949 in Hamersville, OH to the late Samuel and Wanda Gorman. Sandy was the third of seven siblings. Her love of children and her natural spirit took her to the University of Cincinnati where she received a degree in early childhood education. For 25 years, as a preschool teacher in Cincinnati and Albuquerque, Sandy touched many young minds and hearts before retiring in 1994 due to the onset of her illness. Her bright generous spirit and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2005, 2:00 p.m., at Hilltop Church of Christ in Taylor Mill, KY. A memorial service will be held in Albuquerque in the early spring.
